What they do
An organisation set up by Kos residents to coordinate the offers of help and utilise donations from locals and tourists.
- Funded by donations of food, clothing, shoes, bedding and toiletries which are sorted and stored in a warehouse before distribution to the refugees throughout the day and night.
- Distributes fruit, bread, milk and water during the day and hot meals in the early evening.
- Organises night time reception teams for the refugees distributing water, high energy biscuits, milk and dry clothing & blankets when available.
Kos Solidarity is run by a number of dedicated Kos residents who took responsibility for coordinating the many offers of help, clothing, food etc coming from islanders and tourists alike when the refugees started to arrive on the island.
The organisers all work full time and then spend many hours every day undertaking this work, and have been doing so since the crisis started. They receive no governmental support from anywhere within the EU and over this winter, with the tourist season over, will be almost entirely reliant on local volunteers. It is an amazing group of people who desperately need support from the UK public.VISIT WEBSITE
