What they do
Boat Refugee Foundation is a Dutch organisation working on Malta, Lesbos and Kos providing emergency aid and supplies to boat refugees. The organisation focuses on the most vulnerable, pregnant women, breast feeding women and children under the age of 9 but as with all the voluntary initiatives help is given wherever possible, including daily pre dawn patrols to assist the refugees as they come ashore. BRF is run by mostly Dutch volunteers and funded by charitable donations from the Dutch public.
Due to the winter weather and the increase in the number of refugees drowning during the crossing, BRF have recently introduced a rescue boat into their operations to support the refugees on Lesbos.
Other Volunteer Organisations
There are number of other smaller volunteer organisations but all groups work together wherever necessary. All volunteer groups handle emergencies, special care for the most vulnerable, and help to those struggling with personal, language or registration issues. All groups are non-political humanitarian organisations.VISIT WEBSITE
